Preferably confined to the motion of a spherical body upon an axis, in contradistinction to its orbital revolution about another body. A more precise terminology would employ the compound forms: axial rotation, and orbital revolution.

The interval of time required for a planet to make one complete turn on its spin-axis in reference to the fixed stars.
