Pulsars [Astro*Index]Pulsars are believed to be the final remains of ancient supernovas. They are rapidly rotating neutron stars that give off powerful pulses of energy at regular intervals ranging from 1/30 of a second to 3 seconds. Most of them emit in the radio spectrum, but at least one, The Crab Nebula pulsar, gives off visible light.
