Jesse Ventura
by John Townley
Jesse Ventura hits you smack in the face — he should, he’s got Mars conjunct Uranus rising, the first thing you run into when you run into Jesse. That biennial conjunction is the marker for trouble around the world, from Hiroshima to Katrina, so it’s not something you want to mess with lightly. But, you could talk about it — and with the last degree of Gemini rising, Ventura has no problem talking, though he could put the big hurt on you even with that, considering it’s opposite Chiron (wounding) and square Saturn (constricting). Even if you choose only words as weapons, you could wind up in a full Nelson with this SEAL/wrestler/politician as an opponent. But, with joke-making Moon in Sagittarius in the sixth house, he’s willing to have a laugh at it and find a lesson to be learned (for both of you) in the process.
But he also shares another indicator of dogged determinism with Sly Stallone, and that’s the Mercury conjunction with Pluto in Leo. When he’s got his mind on something, it’s set and he’ll worry it like a dog on a bone until he sees it through. Put that together with the Mars-Uranus, and you’ve got a classic iconoclast that breaks down doors, shatters clay idols, and then moves on to other pastures only when he’s sure the initial job has been accomplished. He’s done that in the military, in professional wrestling, and in Minnesota politics, but now he seems to have moved on.
Current events: But moved on to what? It seems to have been a move right out of the country and everything he’d been involved with before, but that could be the heavy transit of Pluto opposing his Ascendant, which tends to put people down for the count until they’ve come up with a new image and affiliation (it’s entering his seventh house). He keeps popping on and off the media like he’s trying to get a new handle on things, but that transit won’t be over until the end of the fall, so expect him to comment on but not dive into the fray until he gets reoriented and out from under Pluto. You’ve not seen the last twists and turns in this remarkable career…
