Michael Moore
by John Townley
When Michael Moore had the choice to just be a fabulously witty comic or really get serious about life, he did both. His chart has such a forcefully Saturnian Mars-Moon conjunction in Capricorn that he couldn’t help but take life as a heavy set of lessons to be chased after and taken care of with a combination of emotional involvement and outrage. Yet, he’s got Uranus square his Mercury, so he can’t resist an acridly comic quip and likes to dig out all the hidden surprises (12th house) that he discovers in a way that both shocks and amuses. So, with a see-saw pattern chart, he has swung from serious to comic, from social commentary to entertainment, and made them both stick.
Although he may pretend to modesty, his Sun-Moon-Mars trine is solid as a rock and he has total confidence in what he is doing, even in the face of rabid opposition. Pluto rising helps that tendency prevail, as he’s a steamroller if you try to get in his way. And though he may debate positive new possibilities, his Gemini Jupiter is the only mutable planet in his chart, so compromise really isn’t on his agenda. With Mercury trine that Pluto, and thus total faith in his ideas prevailing, it doesn’t have to be. He knows he will win in the end, even if it’s only a Pyrrhic victory, so he storms into battle with nothing but his brains and an enormous apparent momentum that doesn’t take prisoners.
Current events: He may have taken his current formula as far as he wants to (or needs to), as he’s just reaching progressed full Moon, so he can afford to coast a little and rest on his laurels. But that’s not likely, either. Pluto is just ramping up to transit his critical Moon-Mars conjunction, so he’s about to undergo some visible inner transformations that may lead him to changing his M.O. yet again, which promises us all another round of great social commentary, entertainment, and enlightenment in the process.
