In the News:
Tiger Woods & Zach Johnson
by John Townley
Is Zach Johnson the Reincarnation of Tiger Woods?
That may sound like a strange question, considering the greatest golfer alive and the man who recently beat him at the Masters championship are both still living. When you look at their charts, however, that’s almost what it looks like.
Born only 56 days apart, you would expect them to have some lingering similarities in the aspects of the middle and outer planets. There’s the Jupiter-Pluto opposition (swing, swing) in Cardinal Aries-Libra making a nice trine-sextile with Neptune, lending power, breadth, and feeling to their swings. And there’s that even more demanding Saturn-Uranus square which is tighter in Tiger’s chart, but loose and out of sign in Zach’s, meaning that Tiger has to practice more to get his precision, which once-honed is repeatable more of the time. These one would anticipate. But, almost two months of inner planet change between births should make them fundamentally different people.
It doesn’t! Instead, Zach’s Mars is at 17 Gemini, just three degrees beyond Tiger’s Mars at 14, giving them both a wide Mars-Neptune opposition (swing, swing), all about intuitive use of energy and timing, though Tiger’s is accented by his Sagittarius Moon riding with Neptune in the picture. And, adding to the inner planet cross-catch, Zach has got his Moon right on top of Tiger’s Sun.
How’d this come about?? The Mars anomaly is explained by Tiger’s retro Mars having gone direct and just made its way back to his birth position in time for Zach’s birth. And the Moon-Sun crossover, that’s just destiny in action, we reckon. But across the board, Tiger’s aspects tend to be the tighter, meaning he has to work harder at it, but then holds it steadier. Put it all together, and you might say that Zach is almost, but not quite, Tiger — but would sure like to be!
Current Events: But will he be? That may depend a great deal on what’s happening in both their inner lives. Tiger is just passing through a progressed new Moon at 10 Aquarius, which means a whole new start and often sends people in totally new directions, abandoning what they did previously, or certainly adopting a new personal style and approach. Zach’s progressed Venus, however, is at 14 Pisces, right where the South Node (gratis good luck) has been in transit, along with one eclipse and now the Mars-Uranus conjunction close nearby on April 29th. He certainly was appropriately shocked by the eclipse-like victory at the Masters, but he may be in for yet more tumult as Uranus continues to deliver its craziness around this point. It should be interesting to see who develops in what direction. If we had an exact birth time for Zach, we could tell you more. Tiger has his Mars smack on the Gaucquelin sweet spot for famous athletes, just past the MC, so he’ll be hard to top.
Speaking of directions (and progressions), here is a natural astrological phenomenon that comes from next-door birthdays, because close-by earlier births progress into the following ones, particularly notable last spring. That means that when Tiger Woods turns 56 (in 2031), his progressed chart will be Zach’s birth chart, exactly! So maybe Zach Johnson is the reincarnation of Tiger Woods, unless maybe it’s the other way around…
