Premonition

Sandra Bullock
by John Townley
What a blessing it is to be born under the Venus-Mars conjunction! It only happens less than once a year, but those who have got it have really got it — it’s charisma and sex appeal, plus animal magnetism all wrapped into one, with usually a disproportionate dose of beauty to go along with it. It’s so common among film stars as to be ridiculous. Make that angular, in this case on Sandra Bullock’s Ascendant, and you’ve got a knockout who can write her own ticket from the start.
In her film career, logically, she was first cast in parts that needed a compelling beauty to eroticize the suspense factor, but that’s not her real style and appeal, strange to say. For a sunny Leo with an easy-going Gemini Ascendant, her most noticeable planet is Saturn, squatting right on her MC (fame, reputation) and quincunx her Sun (dedicated and trained, ambitious personality). Not far from and traditionally ruling her Aquarius Moon (and its modern ruler, Uranus, is in opposition, conjunct Mercury), there’s a cold, astute quality to her emotions and her reactive style that really didn’t surface until Miss Congeniality. Together they make a double bucket handle that swings all the rest around. This is a person who can be icily funny and kick ass without a second thought. There’s something quite scientific (Uranus-Saturn) and calculating (Aquarius) about the way she responds.
If you know her background, that shouldn’t come as a surprise. She may be born in old Virginny, but she was raised in Nuremburg until age 12, and her forebears are a combination of rocket science (grandpa) and rigorous high opera (mom). This person will hit you between the eyes, from over the horizon, while singing an aria. Now it all comes clear. She could equally ride into battle in a BMW attack motorcycle with a sidecar — she even married a famous motorcycle maker (Jesse James) to help out with the maintenance.
Not that everything always comes easy. Despite the first-take Ascendant-Mars-Venus-North Node trine, she’s also got a Jupiter T-square to wrestle with, so her inclination for adventure can sometimes get her into trouble. But hey, we should all be so lucky.
Current events: She’s under some heavy transits right now, most particularly Pluto to her seventh house cusp of partners (a crazed stalker recently tried to run over her husband), plus she’s just coming out of a progressed New Moon, with progressed Sun at progressed Pluto, which usually means beginning a whole new take on life. When Pluto and Jupiter move into Capricorn next year and onto her South Node, more perhaps perilous but definitely promising change awaits.
