Jennifer Lopez
by John Townley
Jennifer Lopez is a very serious woman. You can tell that even without a birth time or an Ascendant, even without being sure of what sign her Moon is (we’re betting on Scorpio, a little on the brooding side). You can tell it despite her outgoing Leo Sun and Mercury trine a Mars in merry Sagittarius, which gives her such solidly positive energy.
That’s because of her Saturn and the mark it makes. First, she’s got a highly motivated locomotive-pattern chart with Saturn in the lead. Her approach to every situation is all about making sure it comes out right, even if she has to tone down her natural enthusiasm to make it so. Could be there’s a lot of native insecurity behind that as well, as that same Saturn is square her Sun, so she’s got built-in self-criticism that always holds her back from believing she’s really as good as she is, despite a streak of originality a mile wide marked by her Jupiter-Uranus conjunction sextile the Sun. Deep inside she knows she’s got what it takes and can carry it off brilliantly, but she’s always afraid she won’t. More than just stage fright, it’s real inner self-doubt, even though she’s the richest Hispanic in Hollywood.
Well, growing up as the child of new immigrants in the Bronx with her entire academic career spent in Catholic schools probably raised the guilt factor more than a little. But hard work, despite a few early setbacks, proved her worth in both music and acting — and then wound up putting the burden of being a role model to the entire Hispanic community. With Neptune conjunct Moon, however you look at it, she looked like an emotionally confused relationship-addict for a while, but that Saturn managed to stabilize it all yet again, and her marriage to Marc Anthony seems to have finally done the trick.
Current events: As progressed Moon comes along to conjoin her natal Saturn later this year, the trend continues. Watch it to manifest in more charity work, perhaps more intense roles, and increasingly public presentations about her insecurities as have been in the news lately. Like we say, she’s really a very serious woman.
